How to Fundraise

You can raise critical funds to support the cats & dogs in Animal Humane’s care by collecting donations from family, friends, and co-workers. Your Doggie Dash & Dawdle Participant Center offers excellent tools to inspire donations.

You can also start a team and invite others to join in on the fun! The top team and individual fundraisers receive special prizes and recognition. Team members receive a 10% discount off their registration fee. 

 

How to collect donations:

The best way to collect donations is to register online as a Dasher, Dawdler or Virtual Dasher. Once registered, you will have access to a personalized Participant Center where you can post your own photos and stories of your pets to help raise funds for homeless pets in Animal Humane’s care.

Your personal Participant Center makes it easy to email your family and friends, share on Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms for everyone to see your fundraising goal and help you meet it. 

You can download and print this Dash donation form to collect donations and drop off checks and cash in person at our Main Campus, 615 Virginia St. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108, or event day at our Registration booth. 

 

Fundraising Tips

Fundraising can seem intimidating at the start, but once you start talkin about your pets, others will feel your passion! We are here to help you find easier ways to raise money. Check out some of our tips below or log in to your Participant Center and use the email templates we have set up for you!  You can also check out our Spread the Word page and use social media to help you reach your goal! 

General:

Early Bird Gets the Worm: The earlier you start fundraising the more time you will have to meet your goal. Start fundraising today!

Lead by Example: Start by making your own donation before asking your family and friends to match or beat it. 

Keep Your Supporters Updated: They will want to know all about your journey in reaching your goal so use your Participant Center to share updates and photos. 

'Thank You' Goes a Long Way: Be sure to send thank you emails to all of your supporters! They may help again in the final stretch!

Challenge Local Companies: Invite some companies to match the amount of donations you receive and double your progress!

Make the Ask: It may seem intimidating, but most people, especially if they are your friends or family, are excited to help! Remember, it's not only about you and your goal; it's about helping homeless pets!

Be Consistent: Keeping the engagement with your friends, family and social media followers until the day of the event will only help you reach your goal!

Most importantly, don’t hesitate to ask more than once, especially with email. If you don’t get a response the first time, ask if your email arrived. Then, ask again.

Fundraising FAQ's

Have questions about how to fundraise for  Animal Humane New Mexico through your Doggie Dash & Dawdle participation? We’re happy to help answer them! Please look through the list below to find answers to the most frequently asked questions about fundraising.

  1. Do matching company gifts count toward fundraising prizes?
    Yes, matching company gifts count toward fundraising prizes. We encourage you to ask your company if they have a matching gift program.
  2. Do team fundraising totals count toward individual fundraising goals?
    No, if someone donates directly to your team, even if you are team captain, that total will go toward the team total, but not your individual total. Encourage supporters to donate through your personal page so you and your team receive credit. 
  3. Are fundraising prizes awarded to teams?
    No, fundraising prizes are awarded only to individuals; however, there are special perks for teams on our team info page. Encourage supporters to donate through your personal page so you and your team receives credit. 
  4. When are fundraising prizes distributed?
    Fundraising prizes will be available for pick-up at Sport Systems about one month after the event and fundraising for the event closes 2 weeks after the event on Sunday, November 19th.

  6. I’m collecting cash donations before the event, what should I do with them?
    If you collect donations in the form of cash or checks, please download and print the Dash donation form drop it off with any check and cash donations in person at our Main Campus location, 615 Virginia St. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108. You also can turn in cash or check donations the day of the event at the registration table, but please remember to also turn in the Dash donation form with your donations.
